Constructed by Coach Builder and prominent Businessman, George Commens, the house was for many years at the hub of Wollongong's social scene. The wide verandahs, high ceilings, ornate plasterwork, French doors, open fireplaces and an abundance of wrought ironwork, provided a special air of rustic charm, in keeping with its position in the local community. The main bedroom has a Queen sized bed, with a second bedroom providing twin beds. The one-bedroom apartment has a Queen sized bed. This apartment features a very spacious dining/kitchen area, which leads directly onto a large shared terracotta courtyard area with barbecue facilities. This in turn leads onto a garden area developed around large well-established trees. Each apartment has its own laundry facilities with washing machine, dryer, ironing board and iron.
